I'm beginning to shoot super 8 film for the first time, and if what I have turns out to be properly shot, I think I need a splicer.

Does anyone have an opinion on a Minette Tri Slicer, which I have a chance to get? Is this a good choice for someone who has not worked with this before.

I use to do very amateur sound tape splicing while working in college radio, so I'm not too concerned on doing this sort of thing with some patience and practice.

    Any other advice is welcome.

Thanks very much for your help.

Get a cement splicer instead of tape splicer. One that grinds the both ends of the film.
I have a H?hnel Kollmatic splicer myself and I like it a lot. It's got a motor and all...

I use an Agfa tape splicer and find I get really good splices and the edit is seemless. I have a cement splicer and you notice the join at the edit. When you get better as a cmera man you can edit "in camera". Go out with a "shot list" including all your close ups and wides and try and shoot in order. This cuts down on the amount of splices you have to make. Sorry if this sounds like I am teaching you to **** eggs.
